Open Source Software Efficiency

In 2024, as part of the 73rd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting, I joined Rebecca Meißner’s team for the 4th Lindau Online Sciathon, a 48-hour competition on Physics as a Driver of a Sustainable World. Our Open Source Software Efficiency Project explored how improving the performance of widely used open-source libraries could reduce energy consumption and the carbon footprint of computing. The project was selected as one of the three most promising ones, and we presented it at the Sciathon Forum in Lindau. We never published the result, so you can read the manuscript below.
